Medium-sized Spanish colonial silver "plata corriente" cut piece with partial tax stamp (early to mid-1500s), 2 oz troy (63.06 grams). Roughly 1¼" x 1¼" x ½". Thick piece tapering to a thin edge, broken in three places (at right angles) from a large "splash" ingot, with one side smooth and the other rougher but with partial circular tax stamp showing (R)EX, light in color (XRF tested at about 88% silver with significant amounts of lead [<9%] and iridium [<3%], but not much copper), approximately equivalent to two 8 reales in its time.
