MEXICO, Mexico City, pillar 8 reales, Charles III, 1762 MF, rounded 6 over old 6, unique, ex-Brameld. Yonaka-unl; Cal-1081; KM-105. 26.73 grams. Polished XF whose date shows a clear rounded 6 (as for subsequent dates) punched over an old-style 6, apparently a unique discovery piece as a new variety not listed in Yonaka, which mentions only a single example of rounded 6 without under-digit (M8.62d1, rated R4), notably with different placement of digits from the current piece (closely spaced), a potentially very important coin for the pillar dollar specialist. Pedigreed to the David Brameld Collection.
