MEXICO, Mexico City, lot of two cob ½R, Philip V, one with assayer R (1729-30) and the other without visible assayer, ex-Peterson. 2.39 grams total. Both dark and corroded, one with clear cross but obscure shield, the other with clear shield, mintmark, and assayer but weak cross, rare provenance and desirable pedigree. From the San Pedro site, pedigreed to the Mendel Peterson Collection, with original Brandenberg tag and additional tag ascribing them as found by B(ob) Klein, also with photocopy of page 230 of Potter's Treasure Diver's Guide (1972) which states: "Recently Captain Bob Klein found an unusual clump of ½- and ¼-real silver coins [on the San Pedro site]."
