MEXICO, Mexico City, gold cob 2 escudos, Philip V, assayer J, crosslet cross (1711-13), NGC MS 64 / 1715 Fleet, ex-Schulman. S-M30; KM-53.1; Cal-Type 239; Fr-7b. 6.65 grams. Odd-shaped flan with sharply detailed full shield, denomination II (reading vertically) to right, the cross about 75% full, with muted luster all over and small patch of light red toning on each side. From the 1715 Fleet, with Sedwick photo-certificate, pedigreed to the Schulman (New York) auction of November 1972 (lot 260).
