MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, probably Philip IV, assayer not visible, single coin and earthenware shard embedded in a chunk of coral, as found. 363 grams. roughly 4½" x 3" x 2". Thick, bubbly coral with about a quarter of the (apparently uncorroded) coin sticking out, flat side of pinkish earthenware fully exposed on other side, solid and great for display. With original certificate from Captain Tracy Bowden through his contract with the Dominican Republic. Recovered from: Concepción, sunk in 1641 off Hispaniola
