MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales "greenie," (1714-15) (J), new-style shield, old-style cross, ex-Bruce Ward. S-M22; KM-47; Cal-Type 170. 24.38 grams total. Oblong flan, looks solid but weight indicates some light corrosion under the crust of brown and light gray that is too thick to see through on the cross side, the other side showing a well-centered, well-detailed, nearly full shield. Pedigreed to the Bruce Ward Estate (Cargile auction of December 2019, lot 212), with original photo-certificate. Recovered from: Spanish 1715 Fleet, sunk off the east coast of Florida
