MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales "biscuit" (encrusted as found), probably Charles II, assayer not visible. 35.84 grams total. Thickly encrusted with tiny shell bits among white, gray, and orange adhesion, the coin completely cocooned but its shape still discernible as a Mexican cob. Pedigreed to the Steve Valentine Collection, with original certificate from the salvor/conservator. Recovered from: Het Huis te Cruyenstein, sunk in 1698 off South Africa
