MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, Philip IV, assayer not visible, ex-"Lucayan Beach Wreck" (ca. 1628), ex-Spink, mounted shield-side out in antique silver bezel with silver chain. 46.10 grams total. Solid piece with most of shield and cross visible amid surface pitting from saltwater corrosion, richly toned with purple hues. From the "Lucayan Beach Wreck" (ca. 1628), with original Spink box and advertisement "Fashion Jewellery created from pieces of eight & pieces of four from the Lucayan Beach Pirate Treasure" (1960s), plus 2024 essay about the wreck.
