MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, Philip IV, assayer not visible (early 1630s), canvas impression on obverse. KM-45; Cal-Type 319. 24.68 grams. Roundish flan with good centers (the cross with distinctively exaggerated fleur tips) but flat peripheries, minimal surface corrosion with clear crosshatch pattern on shield side, light toning. With original certificate from Captain Tracy Bowden through his contract with the Dominican Republic. Recovered from: Concepción, sunk in 1641 off Hispaniola
