MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, Philip IV, assayer not visible (P), canvas impression on obverse. S-M19; KM-45; Cal-Type 319. 26.20 grams. Barrel-shaped flan with curious point at one end, solid and virtually uncorroded except for the imparting of a full canvas imprint on shield side, most of cross despite peripheral flatness, lightly toned. With original certificate from Captain Tracy Bowden through his contract with the Dominican Republic. Recovered from: Concepción, sunk in 1641 off Hispaniola
