MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, Philip IV, assayer not visible (D, late 1620s to early 1630s). S-M18a; KM-45; Cal-Type 319. 27.09 grams. Round flan with no corrosion but peripherally flat, full denomination 8 to right of full but slightly doubled shield, good full cross, nicely toned. With original certificate from Captain Tracy Bowden through his contract with the Dominican Republic. Recovered from: Concepción, sunk in 1641 off Hispaniola
