MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, Philip IV, assayer D (late 1620s to early 1630s). S-M18a; KM-45; Cal-Type 319. 26.90 grams. Solid and uncorroded flan with bold and nearly full shield and cross, some peripheral flatness but very bold full OMD (large O, small D), tiny spot of dark coral on reverse, lightly toned. With original certificate from Captain Tracy Bowden through his contract with the Dominican Republic. Recovered from: Concepción, sunk in 1641 off Hispaniola
