MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, Philip IV, assayer D (early 1630s). S-M18a; KM-45; Cal-Type 319. 26.48 grams. Broad flan with full shield and (off-center) cross, the latter with typically exaggerated fleur-tips (ca. 1631), no corrosion but flat peripheries, tiny edge-split. With original certificate from Captain Tracy Bowden through his contract with the Dominican Republic. Recovered from: Concepción, sunk in 1641 off Hispaniola
