MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, Louis I or Philip V, assayer D (1725-29), NGC G details / saltwater damage (Shipwreck Blue Label), ex-Rose. Closer to VF than the label grade given the poor strike on this boxy cob, label says only Philip V but solid fesse for Austria in shield means 1725 or later hence Louis I is possible, clear assayer, partial shield and cross (both off-center), a few errant scratches on the back. Purchased directly from the original salvor, John V.G. Rose, in the 1980s. Recovered from: Vliegenthart, sunk in 1735 off Zeeland, Netherlands
