MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 8 reales, (1714-15) (J), new-style shield and cross, ex-Real Eight. S-M22; KM-47; Cal-Type 170. 26.25 grams. Solid but mostly flat (the shield off-center) with only very light surface corrosion, small spots of encrustation and streaks of coppery "horn" silver in addition to spotty toning, desirable original provenance. With original Real Eight Co. certificate hand-signed by Harry Cannon. Recovered from: Spanish 1715 Fleet, sunk off the east coast of Florida
