MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 4 reales "biscuit," Charles II, assayer not visible, encrusted as found. KM-39; Cal-Type 91. 16.89 grams. Thick crust of light gray tinged with orange and green, lots of small pebbles and shell-bits embedded, with no more than about 20% of the black coin exposed, scarce from this wreck. Pedigreed to the Steve Valentine Collection, with original certificate from the salvor/conservator. Recovered from: Joanna, sunk in 1682 off South Africa
