MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 4 reales, Philip IV, assayer D. S-M18a; KM-38; Cal-Type 275. 11.53 grams. Round flan with minor edge-split, good full cross showing exaggerated fleur-tips per the early 1630s, full but weaker shield with oMD to left (possibly a P modified from a D), light surface corrosion and flat peripheries, lightly toned. With original certificate from Captain Tracy Bowden through his contract with the Dominican Republic. Recovered from: Concepción, sunk in 1641 off Hispaniola
