MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 4 reales, Philip II, assayer not visible, on piece of encrustation as found. 30 grams total. roughly 1¾" x 1½" x ¾". Thick chunk of impacted debris including glass pieces, the coin solid and with full cross side showing (note the retrograde S in HISPANIARVM) but apparently once detached and now held on with glue. Pedigreed to the Steve Valentine Collection, with original certificate from the salvor/conservator. Recovered from: Santiago, sunk in 1585 off Bassas da India in the Indian Ocean
