MEXICO, Mexico City, clump of four cob minors (three 4R and one 2R), Philip V, assayers not visible, encrusted as found, ex-Bruce Ward. 40.00 grams total. Roughly 1½" x 1½" x ½". Very neat little clump with coins protruding from a thick crust of orange and black, the square-shaped 2R on top (very solid and uncorroded, with blunted points as made) cleaned after the Ward sale to show a full cross and the similarly solid and partially cleaned 4R at bottom showing a full cross too but still partially covered with the encrustation, middle two coins almost completely cocooned. Pedigreed to the Bruce Ward Estate (Cargile auction of December 2019, lot 130), with original photo-certificate and new photo-certificate after partial cleaning. Recovered from: Spanish 1715 Fleet, sunk off the east coast of Florida
