MEXICO, Mexico City, bust 2 reales, Charles III, 1776 FF. KM-88.2; Cal-662; Yonaka-M2-76. 5.17 grams. Desirable date of U.S. independence on a coin recovered from a shipwreck that is famously said to have changed American history by influencing the eventual sale of the Louisiana Purchase to the United States. Smooth bust side from corrosion though with clear date and king's name, better shield side with full details, darkly toned all over. With small certificate. Recovered from: El Cazador, sunk in 1784 in the Gulf of Mexico
