MEXICO, Mexico City, 4 reales, Charles-Joanna, "Late Series," assayer G to right, mintmark M to left (M-G), king's name as CHAROLVS. Nesmith-50 type; Cal-125; S-M5; KM-18. 13.53 grams. Interesting manifestation of HISPANIAARVM in legend (probably from a rotated double-strike), slightly unevenly struck on a broad flan extending past the outer borders (full legends) giving the coin more of an oblong shape than the usual, trace of corrosion only near part of edge, dark gunmetal toning, AU details. Recovered from: “Golden Fleece Wreck,” sunk ca. 1550 in the northern Caribbean
