MEXICO, Mexico City, 4 reales, Charles-Joanna, "Late Series," assayer A/G to right, mintmark M to left (M-A/G), rare, NGC AU 55, ex-Sedwick-Downing (stated on label). Nesmith-unlisted (58 for type); S-M6; Cal-unlisted (type 58); KM-unlisted (9 for type). 13.23 grams. Nesmith never saw any A/G over-assayer coins, and not many exist, this example with a bold and clear A punched over G, the coin overall sharply struck with full legends and interiors on a very broad flan with deep charcoal toning, typically high quality of assayer G emissions. Pedigreed to the Sedwick-Downing Collection of Mexican Charles-Joanna Coinage.
