MEXICO, Mexico City, 4 reales, Charles-Joanna, "Early Series," assayer R at bottom between pillars, motto as LVSV in rounded panel. Nesmith-6c; Cal-115; S-M1; KM-16. 12.81 grams. With a Latin R and all-Latin lettering, among the later strikes from the first assayer of the mint, a choice, gray-toned AU specimen with traces of light surface corrosion here and there, full legends. Recovered from: “Golden Fleece wreck,” sunk ca. 1550 in the northern Caribbean
