MEXICO, Mexico City, 4 reales, Charles-Joanna, "Early Series," assayer P to left, mintmark M to right (oPo-oMo, dotted annulets), motto as PLVS in left-leaning panel with two dotted annulets in each side, HISPANIE variety, very rare, NGC XF 45, ex-Sedwick-Downing, ex-Rudman (both stated on label). Nesmith-21; S-M4; Cal-77; KM-17. 13.57 grams. Choice full interiors and legends on both sides, with lovely rich toning all over, a very desirable (and very rare) example of early assayer P with HISPANIE in the legend and use of K instead of H. Note that examples of P-M are much rarer than M-P. Pedigreed to the Isaac Rudman Collection and to the Sedwick-Downing Collection of Mexican Charles-Joanna Coinage.
