Obverse with crowned radiate open-book Constitution above laurel branch and saber, OSCULATAE SUNT• below, all within legend * CONSTITUCION POLITICA SANCIONADA POR LAS CORTES DE ESPAÑA; reverse with ANTONIO / BERGOSA, ARZO- / BISPO ELECTO DE / MEXICO • EN SEÑAL / DE PATRIOTISMO, DE / AMOR, OBEDIENCIA / Y GRATIT• AL CON / GRESO, Y FIDELI- / DAD AL REY• within legend * EN 18 DE MARZO DE 1812 . PARA FELIC • Y GLORIA DE DOS MUNDOS•; square-and-circle edge (like bust coins) as opposed to a "corded" edge per Grove. Commissioned by Antonio Bergosa y Jordán, Archbishop-Elect of Mexico City, and struck at the Mexico City Mint to commemorate the Constitution of Cádiz, historically significant and with strong eye appeal, AU overall with only a thin scratch on the obverse to note, the fields quite lustrous at the center before delving into darkly toned peripheries.
