MEXICO, Mexico City, 2 reales, Charles-Joanna, "Late Series," assayer G to right, mintmark M to left (M-G), king’s name as CHAROLVS, NGC AU 53, "top pop," ex-Sedwick-Downing (stated on label). Nesmith-49; S-M5; Cal-93; KM-12. 6.78 grams. Early emission from this assayer, struck on a nice broad flan with full legends and interiors, dark chocolate toning, tied with one other for finest in the NGC census. Also note the unusual banner of PLV/SVL/TR without the final A. Pedigreed to the Sedwick-Downing Collection of Mexican Charles-Joanna Coinage.
