MEXICO, Mexico City, 2 reales, Charles-Joanna, "Early Series," assayer P over Latin R (Rincón) at bottom between pillars, motto as PLVS in rhomboid panel, unique. Nesmith-unl; S-M4; Cal-unl; KM-10. 6.32 grams. Mostly dark gunmetal-toned over streaky corrosion but with fairly certain P/R and a pillars side a die-match with the Sedwick-Downing R-alone example in this same auction (lot 533), full interiors but legends somewhat difficult to discern. Recovered from: “Golden Fleece wreck,” sunk ca. 1550 in the northern Caribbean
