MEXICO, Mexico City, 2 reales, Charles-Joanna, "Early Series," assayer G between bottoms of pillars, mintmark M to left and right (oMo-oMo), motto as PLVS in left-leaning rhomboid panel. Nesmith-10a/10; Cal-88; S-M2; KM-11. 6.47 grams. Attractively toned, uneven AU-, nearly corrosion-free except for tiny parts of edge, virtually full legends and interiors. As a pillars-side die-match to an assayer-P die and to an assayer-G die with an over-assayer, this is a good example of the re-use of dies between the "Early Series" assayers. With photo-certificate. Recovered from: “Golden Fleece wreck,” sunk ca. 1550 in the northern Caribbean
