MEXICO, Mexico City, 1 real, Charles-Joanna, "Early Series," assayer G at bottom between pillars, mintmark oMo-oM/F/Po (plain annulets), motto as PLVS in left-leaning rhomboid panel with single annulets on either side, very rare, NGC F 15, ex-Sedwick-Downing (stated on label). Nesmith-9 (no overassayer noted); S-M2; Cal-unl (61 for type); KM-unl (7 for type). 3.2 grams. Full legends and interiors despite a slightly off-center strike, with moderate softening on the high points (more like VF) with great contrasting toning, clearly an over-assayer strike with a die match to assayer P and assayer F coins, and very rare as such. Pedigreed to the Sedwick-Downing Collection of Mexican Charles-Joanna Coinage.
