MEXICO, Chihuahua, cap-and-rays 8 reales, 1868 MM, three dots after date, NGC XF details / damaged (Shipwreck Black Label). DP-Ca45; KM-377.2. Bold details despite dark gunmetal toning in low contrast throughout, rim-gouge between date and assayer, lightly corroded eagle side, scarce provenance to a British merchant steamship returning from New Orleans when it sank in thick fog off Ireland with hundreds of thousands of Mexican silver coins, only some of which have been recovered in our time. With Terry Hiron photo-certificate CS/TH/13 countersigned by Richard Larn. Recovered from: S.S. Crescent City, sunk in 1871 off Ireland
