Lot of two French West Indies, copper crowned-C stampees (ca. 1763) on French colonial 2 sous of the Paris mint (one dated 1742), both Vlack Plate Coins, with book. Vlack-371 and 374 (these coins). 1.84 and 1.89 grams. Bold full countermarks (VF) on typically worn hosts (Fair at best), one of which shows not only a clear date 1742 but also full king's name and ordinal LUD XV. Plate Coins in An Illustrated Catalogue of The French Billon Coinage in the Americas (2004), by Robert A. Vlack, a copy of which accompanies this lot, the coins pedigreed to the Stack's auction of January 2008, with original lot-tags #5423 and #5424.
