Lot of ten lead musketballs, ex-Piedmont (1795). 375 grams total. Roughly ½" in diameter. Typical lead musketballs with accompanying letter written before the ship was identified as the Piedmont and describing instead the whole fleet of ships that sank in Lyme Bay and particularly one of its occupants, the future Duke of Wellington and important leader in the Battle of Waterloo, Arthur Wellesley (né Wesley). Also stated in the letter is the fact that these musketballs are for a brown bess musket. From the Piedmont (1795), with undated and unsigned letter from salvor Selwyn Williams describing the 1795 sinking and these musketballs specifically.
