Lot of gold flakes and dust from the S.S. Central America (1857), approx. 31 grams, in original Sotheby's packaging. A generous "pinch" of gold dust and flakes (plus a few tiny nuggets) from the California Gold Rush and the most famous shipwreck source of same, one of the few original lots from the Sotheby's sale that did not (yet) go to promoters for packaging into 1.5-gram retail items. From the SS Central America (1857), with Sotheby's sticker #283/19925 and blue pouch.
