Lot of five British copper alloy medals (four Admiral Vernon / Porto Bello, 1739, and one Admiral Rodney, 1781), accompanied by two classic books on medals. Medals: 44.93 grams total and 24-40mm each; books: 10-1/4" x 6-3/4" and 12" x 9". One choice Vernon medal (copper-colored AU) but the others AVF-XF with corrosion (one small), plus a similar Rodney medal (see next lot) in crusty VF, the main value being the rare and classic Spanish-language books by Rosa and Medina from the late 1800s and early 1900s, both of which are hardbound in well-used but fully intact condition. From an old collection, with two books: Medallas del Almirante Vernon (1893), by Alejandro Rosa, and Medallas Coloniales Hispano-Americanas - nuevos materiales para su estudio (1919), by J.T. Medina.
