Lot of five British copper alloy Admiral Vernon medals (Porto Bello, 1739), accompanied by two classic books on Vernon medals. Medals: 72.98 grams total and 35-39mm each; books: 9-3/4" x 6-1/2" and 12" x 8-3/4". Average-quality (VF-XF) medals in dark copper color with clear details but various issues (corrosion, encrustation, flan-cracks, ink-marks, and tooling), the real draw here being the rare and classic Spanish-language books by Mitre and Medina from the early 1900s, both of which are hardbound in well-used but fully intact condition. From an old collection, with two books: Medallas de Vernon (1904), by Bartolome Mitre, and Las Medallas de Almirante Vernon (1919), by J.T. Medina.
