Lot of 10 U.S. Continental Currency notes issued in denominations of 1/3 of a dollar up to fifty dollars and dated 1775-1779 (all but the 1/3 dollar in "Spanish milled dollars"). All less than 4" x 3". A decent lot of problem-free VG-VF notes, all numbered and signed by hand, printed in Philadelphia by Hall and Sellers, some with flecks of mica remaining on the reverse (an anti-counterfeiting measure, as British fakes were abundant), issued to fund the Revolutionary War but subject to rapid depreciation, the two 1779 pieces under United States of America issued to replace the earlier pieces under United Colonies, and the 1776 piece inside an old (1934) envelope embossed with ADAM, MELDRUM & ANDERSON CO. / BUFFALO, N.Y.
