Limited-edition silver 1-oz "restrike" of a Mexican 8 reales Royal (galano) 1621 D struck ca. 1985 at the Mexico City Mint using silver from melted-down ingots from the Atocha (1622). 27.27 grams. From a limited striking of 10,000 pieces struck at the Mexico City Mint using 27.27 grams of 97% fine ("or better") silver recovered from the Atocha (presumably from big silver bars), basically a Mexican 8-reales Royal restrike, as the design is completely accurate for a 1621 specimen, yet clearly not intended to deceive, with frosty surfaces and bold design throughout. With Mexico City Mint certificates (generic).
