Leon, Nicaragua, liberty cap countermark (1824) on a Granada provisional "imitation cob" 1 real 1824-DG, very rare, encapsulated NGC VF details / holed, c/s XF standard, ex-Richard Stuart. KM-unl; Jara pp. 33-34. Full pillars and cross on aligned axis with old piercing at top as noted, the full countermark neatly placed over the upper half of the cross, overall an attractive example with all features clearly defined and nicely toned. A similar example, also pierced, hammered for $6,500 in our Auction #5 (lot #1226). NGC #4486428-006. Pedigreed to the Richard Stuart collection.
