Large silver "wedge" ingot with heavy encrustation, 1905 grams, ex-1715 Fleet. Roughly 6" x 4" x 4". Very large ingot in the form of a "pie slice" that was believed to be contraband (as a whole "pie" of wedges fit neatly in the bottom of a barrel), and an impressive display consisting of an original matrix of shells and concretion (gray with orange spots, with stable hairline fissure, professionally conserved), solidly attached to a large, dark-gray wedge of silver amalgam (lighter than solid silver), a unique conversation-piece for sure and the second largest wedge we have ever sold after another 1715 Fleet example that was 968 grams. Note also that we have XRF-tested this ingot at over 95% silver, and the concretion appears to bear a good amount of iron, indicative of a spike or other iron object inside (which affects the total weight). From the 1715 Fleet, with Sedwick photo-certificate.
