Large iron barshot, professionally conserved, ex-1733 Fleet, ex-Fismer. 22 lb. 13" long, 3" diameter at ends. With both ends flat and the middle bar hexagonal in cross-section, this is one of several types of barshot known from wrecks of this period, an effective type of ammunition designed to whirl around and foul rigging, this example fairly well intact and heavy, corroded from oxidation but stable and glossy black in color from conservation. From the 1733 Fleet, pedigreed to the Carl Fismer Collection.
