Large copper ingot with encrustation, 59 lb, ex-Atocha (1622), ex-Auerbach. 15" x 9" x 3". Unusually rectangular but still typically crude, the flattish top almost completely encrusted in white-and-green encrustation that extends to the rough and rounded bottom in a few places, the metal surface itself dark brown with spots of orange, an impressively large item from this popular shipwreck. From the Atocha (1622), with original Fisher plastic tag and photo-certificate 85A-C057, pedigreed to the Stuart Auerbach collection (Sedwick Auction 25, with original lot-tag 221).
