Large clump of two Dutch ducatoons (one Spanish Netherlands portrait-type and the other United Netherlands "rider" type) in a nest of at least nine lead musketballs, including one spring-shot, plus small rocks and debris. 641 grams total, roughly 5" x 3-1/2" x 2-1/2". One of the most impressive clumps we have ever offered, with two solid coins protruding from the top of a mass of musketballs in brown debris containing (among other things) shells and rocks, one of the musketballs actually a "springshot" and attached to the rest of the display by its original, embedded wire spring! The coins are dark but fairly well detailed, one with clear date 1658 and Antwerp mintmark (Brabant, Spanish Netherlands). With original (generic) certificate from the salvagers.Recovered from: Merestein, sunk in 1702 off South Africa
