Large and ornate gold men's ring with top in the shape of an imperial crown with 4 pearls, possibly a reliquary. 9.4 grams; size 7-1/2 to 8. Clearly an important relic, its top design consisting of a miter of 4 pearls, evenly matched in size and nacre and (we suppose) intentionally color-coded with 2 blackish and 2 pinkish, inside a gold, 4-armed high arch that is somewhat loose, the underside exposed and showing the back of a dull stone that may have originally retained a relic, the shoulders of the ring showing ornate crosses with central ovals, bright and lustrous gold all over, just a little pitted and slightly out-of-round but fully intact and impressive. From: Unidentified Spanish wreck of the early 1700s off the east coast of Florida
