Large, French, ca.-1787 copperplate-engraved map of the early United States titled "Carte Generale des Etats Unis De L'Amerique Septentrionale renfermant aussi quelques Provinces Angloises adjacentes" by Tardieu (Paris), hand colored and professionally framed with non-glare glass. 28" x 21-3/4" (image 16-1/2" x 13-1/4") For Americana enthusiasts, an interesting and subtly hand-colored map of the U.S. as it appeared in 1787 with a list of fourteen states and their capitals to the right of map (some capitals no longer in use as such) along with Canadian provinces to the east of the Louisiana Purchase. Light foxing outside map area and old center fold mark, all within a sturdy professional frame and upgraded glass.
