JAMAICA, pair of cast brass star Jamaica Militia pouch belt plates, 1803. 52.10 grams total. both are 2" in diameter. Regimental insignia of the Jamaica Militia featuring JAMAICA above a crocodile and date 1803 below (all incuse) on circle at center with eight-pointed star, four lugs on back. These plates would have been worn on the pouch belt as part of the uniform of the Jamaica Militia, which was in raised in 1803 as part of the British colonial defenses. Both with mild encrustation and verdigris though design remains quite legible.
