Iron grapeshot with iron nail inside, 1600s-1700s. 31.1 grams, 2" long. Simple musketballs were not enough to do significant damage, so they were eventually molded with all kinds of shrapnel embedded inside (in this case a small, square-shanked nail, the lead ball lightly encrusted), despite the obvious limitations to aerodynamics.
