Iron grapeshot ball with nail through it, 1600s-1700s. 61.4 grams, 2-1/4" long and 7/8" in diameter. We are at a loss to explain this item, as the lead ball appears to be cast around the small iron nail (square shank and head), probably just one of the many devious designs to increase gunshot damage in its time, undoubtedly rare. With photo-certificate.
