INDIA (British), Madras Presidency, Arkot mint, 2 rupees, AH 1172 Year 6 (1807), struck over a Spanish colonial bust 8 reales, rare. KM-404.2. 22.50 grams. AU details with only very light surface corrosion, mostly well toned, faint traces of undercoin legends, a rare type (a new denomination to the country, struck posthumously in the name of Alamgir II) and particularly rare from a shipwreck, first we have seen or heard of. Pedigreed to the Steve Valentine Collection, with original certificate from the salvor/conservator. Recovered from: Fame, sunk in 1822 off South Africa
