Hollow terra cotta statue of Tanit. 187 grams, 6-3/8" tall and about 1-1/2" in diameter. A crude, worn statue almost completely cocooned in white encrustation, the face and one arm (barely recognizable) peeking out (grayish tan color), one of 250 statues found on the wreck in similar condition, the goddess being the main deity of Carthaginian religion and culture. With copy of article about the wreck and salvage. Recovered from: Phoenician wreck of the late 5th/early 4th century BC off Israel
