High-grade emerald, 3.12 carats, square-cut in modern times from a large natural crystal found on the wreck. Dark and intensely green stone, fairly translucent, among the best stones we have seen in this size from this wreck (just a couple small inclusions/voids), all ready to be mounted in a ring. (Image enlarged to show quality.) From the Atocha, sunk in 1622 west of Key West, Florida
